A decade of remarkable travel

Following their 10th trip with Audley Travel, Jim and Bonnie reflect on the past decade of authentic travel experiences.

the following is a collection of memories from jim and bonnie's worldwide adventures.

Bonnie and I have been very fortunate on many levels. We have traveled a fair amount over our 40 years of marriage and always love the shared adventure, humility and energizing impact we feel from the places we have seen and the people we have met. When we can, we have included our children and now our grandchildren. But we love to travel with each other and on our own, more than in a group (those can be fun also), as everyone we meet becomes our “group” and if we are lucky, our guides our friends. Audley has helped us in making this happen a number of times, so now with 10 trips with you, I want to thank everyone at Audley. Know that the adventures you create are important, not only as a high end vacation, but as experiences that shape our lives and perspectives for the better, and that connect us to the world in a very meaningful way. Thank you all for that. You will hear from us again and for as long as we can as we continue to explore and learn.

Africa, 2011

Jim and Bonnie's first trip with Audley was to Botswana, South Africa and Zambia. With safaris and wine tours, this was a perfect introduction to the Audley Way.

Peru, Ecuador, Galapagos, 2012

In 2012 they travel to South America, visiting Peru, Ecuador and the Galapagos, where they hiked, saw the iconic Machu Picchu and friendly wildlife.

Vietnam, japan, 2013

In Vietnam and Japan they sailed the Mekong Delta, explored ancient cities, stayed in a traditional ryokan and saw the cherry blossoms.

For the holidays in 2013 the Reinhardsen's traveled to Cuba to experience the warmth of the culture and people, explored colonial towns and saw a Buena Vista Social Club show in Havana.

brazil, 2014

In Brazil, they traveled to see the mighty Iguazu Falls, the Portuguese architecture in Salvador, the iconic dichotomy of the beach and skyline view in Rio de Janeiro and relaxed at some of the lesser-known beach towns south of Rio.

Nepal, bhutan, 2015

In Nepal they embarked on a multi-day trek through the Himalayas and watched the sun rise over Mount Everest, then visited majestic temples and monasteries hidden in the mountains of Bhutan.

Singapore, indonesia, 2016

Jim and Bonnie first flew to Singapore to see this vastly expanding, thriving and opulent city. From here they went on to explore Indonesia's culture and scenery with visits to Yogyakarta, rice temples in Ubud and hiked and biked craters and volcanoes in Bali.

In 2017 they visited the mysterious moai on the island of Easter Island, off the coast of mainland Chile, and traveled to the vast Atacama Desert to experience Mars-like scenery and some of the best stargazing in the world.

In 2018 Jim and Bonnie traveled back to Japan for a more in-depth and adventurous look at this diverse country. This time they trekked the ancient Kumano Kodō pilgrimage route, the spiritual heartland of Japan and hiked the Japanese alps.

Here they explored the island of Sicily before venturing to do some hiking in northern Italy.

For their most recent trip with Audley, Jim and Bonnie traveled to Australia where they embarked on an active hiking-focused tour through Australia's vast wilderness.
